Imitation Jack

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Jack Davis was flattered a lot during his comic book days. Several artists tried their hands at his distinctive style, some doing it better than others. These stories are from various 1970s Atlas Comics reprints of comics from the 1950s. At least one of the artists, Pablo Ferro, went on to fame as a designer, animator and director. Within a decade he went from a cheesy Davis swipefest, "The Evil Eye," to designing the DR. STRANGELOVE titles for Stanley Kubrick.

Tomorrow: Howard Nostrand, the best of the Davis-stylists.
